    Morata was close to... Wolfsburg?

Alvaro Morata could have joined Wolfsburg back in 2014, and is still high on the Bundesliga club's wishlist, according to an interview he released to Goal.com.

It turns out that the Spaniard, who is at the centre of a lot of media speculation about his whereabouts next season and the famous Recompra, was approached by Wolfsburg at the last minute, just before he was set to fly to Turin and sign his deal with the Bianconeri.

"It's true, it happened 2-3 days before I arrived in Turin and signed my deal with Juventus. Wolfsburg's president actually went to Madrid, and I spoke about his offer with my father, the manager and the club's director of sport.

"Wolfsburg really wanted me, and were ready to offer me a very advantageous contract. But I was attracted by the Old Lady, by her history, and by the chance to play in the Champions League and to win the Scudetto.

Now, the BuLi side is once again trying to bring him to Germany, though it's hard to see how they can beat out the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United.

The Spaniard doesn't seem to have any regrets about missing out on a German move, either:

"Wolfsburg would have been a great choice for me, because I didn't play a lot in Madrid, but I ended up choosing an important club like Juvetus, and look how that's gone. I've already won three titles, and hope to make it five by the end of the season".
