Milan will miss cult hero Alex
One man in particular shone on Saturday night's 2-1 defeat to Juventus: Alex, who spent a solid hour fighting off Alvaro Morata and Mario Mandzukic (he was let down by a Romagnoli error on the Croatian's opener) and even scored the Rossoneri's opener.
The Brazilian's prowess in front of goal has been particularly appreciated by fans, who have compared his diving header against Juventus to a similar effort seen in a famous Italian comedy flick, Tre Uomini E Una Gamba. One of the members of the comedy trio, Aldo Baglio, is also bald, and can be seen below scoring in a doomed friendly against Morocco (which they lost 10-3), and which ultimately cost a priceless wooden sculpture [Do yourselves a favour and watch the film, it's really good].
Back to the task at hand: Alex is turning out to be a precious asset for the Rossoneri. Injured and barely making an impact last season, the former Chelsea and PSV star's deal is close to expiring, something which would leave a huge hole in the Rossoneri's defence.
Partner Alessio Romagnoli still needs a veteran presence to guide him and help him develop. Alex, for his part, has yet to find an agreement with Milan, and is lobbying to return to Brazil anyway, with Santos leading the way to obtain an agreement.
Whatever happens, it has taken Alex two seasons to prove that he can be a precious cog indeed, and one that Milan will miss if he leaves.
