Milan to host January fire sale as Miha begins purge: Mauri, Suso out

Sinisa Mihajlovic has been given licence to kill (the Serb is a big Bond fan) by the Rossoneri’s front office.

Beyond the Keisuke Honda affair (he seems to have dug his own grave) and the injured Diego Lopez, Mihajlovic is free to swing the axe whenever he sees fit.

Ever since the start of the season, he’s had a death list, something confirmed after a friendly with Mantova, when the former Serbia manager criticized certain players who “have shown why they shouldn’t play”.

The first is Antonio Nocerino, who reportedly had his chance against Empoli and didn’t take it. AC Milan will try to shift him during the January windown, with Atalanta, Bologna, Carpi and Verona interested.

The second is Suso. The Spanish winger has failed to earn a starting spot since joining last January, he looks close to a loan to Genoa, Malaga, Celta Vigo or Villareal, though West Ham could also be in the race.

The final midfielder set to leave is Jose Mauri, who despite his agent’s denials looks to be on the way to a club between Atalanta, Sassuolo, Bologna and Chievo. The 19-year-old could leave on a loan deal with option to buy.

The defence is another headscratcher for the Rossoneri, with the trio of Alex, Philippe Mexes and Cristian Zapata all in the final years of their contracts. One of them could jump in January.

The most likely to leave seems to be Zapata, whose (relatively) young age alllows Milan to make some money out of him before he skips town. He has also attracted interest from both the Premier League and La Liga. Having already played for Villareal, there were impressed enough to relieve Milan of a player who has revealed to be excess baggage, to put it gently.
