As reported earlier today, it doesn’t seem so sure that 30-year-old midfielder Nigel de Jong will leave AC Milan at the end of the season: according to Tuttosport, both the Dutchman and 32-year-old Michael Essien will finally leave “San Siro”, so that the rossoneri are thinking about a consistent renewal of their midfield: their main targets, as reported by the same media, are Genoa 24-year-old Andrea Bertolacci, Real Madrid same-aged Asier Illarramendi, Atletico Madrid 27-year-old Mario Suarez Mata and Atalanta 22-year-old Daniele Baselli, for whom there is already an agreement and who could join for about 7 million euros, an amount that the Lombard club could obtain by saving on the salaries of De Jong and Essien themselves; on the contrary, as outlined by calciomercato.com, to obtain Empoli 28-year-old Mirko Valdifiori, Milan could involve in a negotiation with the azzurri 23-year-old attacking midfielder Riccardo Saponara and 22-year-old Simone Verdi (this latter in co-ownership with Torino), both playing on loan for the Tuscan team. Another option for the rossoneri is –as anticipated yesterday- Feyenoord 23-year-old Jordie Clasie, but also a new winger could come from Holland, PSV Eindhoven 20-year-old Memphis Depay. Also Serie A defending champions Juventus are tracking a young winger, 18-year-old Jose Angel Pozo, whose contract with Manchester City will expire at the end of the current season.
