Messi to open new Barcelona contract talks ahead of Real Madrid clash
Messi’s Barcelona contract runs until 2018 and the Argentinean star was said not to be open to extend his stay at the club as he reportedly felt mistreated by Spanish law and media after a 21-month sentence for tax fraud.
The star’s father/agent, however, has denied that his son doesn’t want to sign a new contract with Barcelona and, according to Mundo Deportivo, he’s going to meet Barcelona president Bartomeu in two weeks time, only a few days before the Real Madrid clash.
Bartomeu is going to personally negotiate the terms of a new contract with Messi’s father and is intended to make the Argentinean star the best paid footballer in the world ahead of Real Madrid stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.
