Marcelino’s appointment as Inter boss is a humiliation for Zanetti and Ausilio
Marcelino has had a normal career, almost a mediocre one until he took over at Villareal bringing the Yellow Submarine from Spain’s second division to the Europa League semi-finals in three years. Last summer, however, he had a big argument with Villareal defender Mateo Musacchio and, as a result, Marcelino handed his resignation.
The profile of Marcelino is not a top one; he’s an average manager with no Serie A experience. Why are Inter picking him? When we spotted Marcelino in a hotel in Milan’s city centre yesterday night he was smiling. Maybe he doesn’t even believe that Inter are really going to appoint him as their new boss.
Suning have decided to do it their way without considering opinions of Ausilio, Zanetti and Gardini who had backed former Lazio boss Stefano Pioli, a normal manager too, but with Serie A experience at least.
There are many personalities inside Inter’s control room, but it’s still difficult to find out who takes all the decisions. The opinion of Zanetti, Ausilio and Gardini was not taken into account once again. What are they going to do now? Will they accept another humiliation or are they going to leave the club?
Truth is, Suning have never listened to them since the Chinese group bought the club last summer, someone, however, should make new owners understand that Marcelino has nothing to do with this inter side, nothing at all.
