Manchester United, maybe the problem is Ibra?
At 35 years old Zlatan Ibrahimovic is still breaking records. This season for example, he began scoring goals for hid seventh different European club (Ajax, Juventus, Inter, Barcelona, Milan, Paris Saint Germain and Manchester United). For once, however, the numbers make heavy reading for the big Swede and at the moment himself, as well as his new club, are going through a very bleak period.
ALMOST 10 YEARS AGO:
His current run of six games without a goal for the Red Devils, is closing in on his worst ever run in professional football. The last time he suffered a barren spell of this magnitude was back in 2007/08 when he was wearing the shirt of Inter Milan. Then he failed to find the back of the net from 29 September to December 5; a total of seven matches. Just like nine years ago, October has been a bleak month for the former Swedish international, with his last goal coming in the derby against Manchester City on September 10.
IS HE THE PROBLEM?
After a scintillating start to life in England, which saw Ibrahimovic score on his opening four outings for United, the club have been on a downward spiral since the home defeat to their city rivals. Coach Jose Mourinho has been walking around like a man ready to pick a fight with anyone who is in his vicinity. One win in seven, against Leicester City is worrying but throughout this time he’s backed his big striker every time. Is it now time however, for the “Special One” to make the change?
