Man United target Fabinho 'wanted to leave Monaco this summer, but no offers came'
It appears that Fabinho wasn’t as close as we thought to joining Manchester United this summer.
Speaking to GloboEsporte, the Brazilian midfielder / defender revealed that he “wanted to leave”, but “no tangible offers” from major European clubs.
Fabinho, 23, has been a star in recent months for the Ligue 1 side, already smashing in five goals this season, and not missing a single one of his last ten penalties. He’s also netted twice in Champions League action.
“I signed an extension after the previous window. My name had been lined with big clubs this summer, notably in England and Spain,” he told GloboEsporte (via GetFrenchFootball), “I wanted to leave Monaco at that point, that was my intention, I thought that it was the right moment”.
“But as I did not receive a single tangible offer, I decided that the best solution was to stay here to play in the Champions League and to try and win a Cup with this team.”
