Liverpool are set to compete
with Napoli for Sassuolo striker Gregoire Defrel, according to sources.
The Independent claims that the Reds are looking to add some steel up front, with Daniel Sturridge reportedly on his way out. With the likes of Christian Pulisic of Borussia, as well as Mousa Dembele’ of Celtic.
This clashes with the Serie A side’s objectives, however, their director of sport confirming that the Emilians are very reticent about letting Defrel, who has already scored six Serie A goals this season.
“Defrel? He has potential, and he’s one of the four strangers we have in our squad,” Giovanni Carnevali told Radio Kiss Kiss (via sassuolocalcionews) “We don’t want to sell him, especially not in January”.
“I’m not surprised that a club like Napoli likes him, but they’ve never asked us.
Carnevali seemed to confirm what was said by Liverpool, claiming that “we’ve received offers from La Liga and the Premier League”.
