Juventus & Liverpool in battle for Brandt
Reports on Goal.com claim that Liverpool and Juventus will go head to head next summer to try to sign Bayer Leverkusen winger Julian Brandt.
The 20-year-old is highly regarded by Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, although a January assault from the Premier League club looks unlikely. Brandt has quick feet, is versatile and has the physical attributes to match his explosive pace. The German tactician has built an exciting frontline at Anfield this season but recently admitted that; “I don’t have too many wingers”.
There will be competition from Italy however, with Juventus already making tentative enquiries about the player this summer. Ultimately, the bianconeri decided to look elsewhere and headed back to Chelsea for former player Juan Cuadrado. With the Colombian unlikely to stay beyond the end of the current campaign, coach Allegri is already looking to the future and Brandt has the right profile as the champions look to invest in top quality young players.
