Juve challenge Inter in race to sign Lindelof

Juventus has entered the race to sign Benfica defender Victor Lindelof. The 22-year-old Swede has been strongly linked to join Inter but now it seems there could be competition from one of their oldest foes.

The bianconeri are looking for young talent to eventually replace Andrea Barzagli and Giorgio Chiellini and the young Swede, along with his Benfica teammate Alex Grimaldo, are two names that have been continuously linked with a move to Serie A.

Lindelof, who has also broken into the Swedish national team this year, has been at the Lisbon club since 2011 and has been used sparingly as a first-team player since 2013. His current deal in the Portuguese capital runs until 2020 and he is highly regarded by current boss Rui Vitoria. It was suggested that Inter may even prize him away during the summer but Benfica stood firm against mounting pressure. Next time they may not be able to hang onto one of their young stars who’s future may lie in the Italian top-flight.
