He was one of the hits of the summer transfer window and today Joao Mario was officially presented to the media. Ahead of this weekend’s huge derby d’Italia against Juventus, the Portuguese midfielder declared that; “It’s a very important game and I believe we can do well. I have always been aware of their interest in me, even before Euro 2016 and I’m really happy to be here”. 
 

Asked about his preferred role he replied; “I prefer to play as a number eight or a ten but I have also played as the holding midfielder. The most important thing is to play for the good of the team so I can adapt to wherever the coach wants me to play”. When asked if the €45 million price-tag would be a heavy burden around him he stated that; “I want to repay the trust the club has shown in me. Naturally, when so much money changes hands everyone expects immediate results. I have a contract for five years and I want to show my qualities during this time”.
