‘Italy strike force is depressing’, says 2006 world cup winner Luca Toni

Verona striker Luca Toni, a former Bayern Munich hit-man as well as last years’ Serie A top scorer has released an interview to German newspaper Bild talking about Italy national team ahead of the Azzurri’s friendly games against Spain and Germany.

Toni, 38, has scored 16 goals in 49 appearances with the senior Azzurri national team and is a 2006 world cup winner.

“Games against Germany are always special”, Toni told German journalists.

“Italy will need a great performance, but there are no more strikers like Filippo Inzaghi, Francesco Totti, Alessandro Del Piero or even me and that’s quite depressing.”

Toni has also played for Brescia, Vicenza, Fiorentina, AS Roma, Palermo and Juventus in Serie A scoring 157 goals in 342 games.
