Inter throw down challenge to Juve: contact for Bentacur
Juventus-Inter, the Derby d’Italia; It’s a contest that has provided some classic memories down the years. The latest confrontation is in the transfer market and it concerns Boca Juniors midfielder Rodrigo Bentacur. One of the clauses in the Carlos Tevez sale to the Argentinian’s last summer was that Juventus would have first option on the 18-year-old providing a deal (for €9.4 million) was done before 20 April 2017.
INTER OFFENSIVE
Now there is a new player to contend with in the shape of their old enemy Inter. Vice-President Javier Zanetti has been following the youngster for some time and La Gazzetta dello Sport claims the nerazzurri have had contact with the player’s representatives and are ready to invest €6.5 million in him. This figure however, is much less than the asking price from Boca who consider their player to be worth much more as stated above.
PRESENT AND FUTURE
After the arrival of Caner Erkin, Inter only has availability in the squad for one non-EU player next season so the sensible option would be to take Bentacur in the summer of 2017. The challenge to Juventus has been launched; another Derby d’Italia is under way.
