Inter, the plan for Gabbiadini
“We have a classic number 10 in Jovetic, he can play in attack but his job is to link up the play. Eder and Perisic can play wide but at this moment we lack someone who is left-footed to play on the right”. These are the comments from Inter coach Roberto Mancini and a signpost to the summer transfer window. All the clues lead to Napoli striker Manolo Gabbiadini.
A SPARE STRIKER
28 appearances, nine goals and three assists: Gabbiadini is vital to Napoli and this has been demonstrated by president De Laurentiis in January when several offers for his services were rejected. The Italian international however, has made it known to his agent that he is not willing to spend another season warming the substitute’s bench. The Inter coach has a soft spot for the 24-year-old who he sees as a perfect partner for Mauro Icardi. Gabbiadini has a contract at the San Paolo until 2019 and Mancini would need to find around €25 million to persuade the vesuviani to part with their player. Reports in today’s Tuttosport however, suggest that Sporting Director Piero Ausilio is willing to throw in either Juan Jesus or Andrea Ranocchia as part of any deal.
LJAJIC TO DEPART
Aware that taking Gabbiadini would leave a void in the Napoli striking department, it’s possible that Serbian Adem Ljajic could fit the bill. Having been on loan at the San Siro this season, Inter will not take up their right to purchase in full therefore he will return to Roma. The €11 million requested by the giallorossi for the 24-year-old could suit everyone’s needs.
