Inter, OFFICIAL: the return of Samuel
Inter have announced on their official website that former defender Walter Samuel has returned to the club as part of new coach Stefano Pioli’s technical staff. The man who was known as “The Wall”, spent four years as a player with the nerazzurri between 2005 & 2009 winning six league titles, three Italian cups, five Italian Super Cups and a Champions League.
The club announced that; “We welcome the return of Walter Samuel, a quiet warrior who always spoke the facts. He was a winner and he’s never left our hearts. Welcome home Walter Samuel!”
The 38-year-old started his career back home in Argentina with Newells Old Boys before moving to Boca Juniors in 1997. Three years later he arrived in Serie A at Roma where he was part of their 2001 Scudetto winning side. In 2004 he made the switch to Real Madrid but the following season he arrived at Inter. He finished his playing career at Swiss champions Basel.
