According to reports in The Independent, Inter representatives have spoken with the agent of former England captain Steven Gerrard.

The journal states that club executives made initial contact with the 36-year-old in October when Dutchman Frank de Boer was still in charge with a proposal to extend the player’s career for a further six-months until the end of the current Serie A season.
 

Gerrard, who left LA Galaxy earlier this week, is considering several options at the moment including the vacant manager’s job at League 1 side MK Dons. It remains to be seen if the nerazzurri, now under the guidance of Stefano Pioli, will continue to pursue the possibility of bringing the Liverpool legend to the San Siro in January.  

New owners, The Suning Group, are determined to get the fallen giants back into the top echelons of European football and are prepared to loosen the purse strings to get the right players on board.
