Inter have landed another promising signing.

Marcelo Saracchi of Danubio is 18 years, old, but is considered a great prospect, and has already starred for his country’s Under-17 side, eventually becoming its captain.

Saracchi hails from Paysandù, a city in which 65% of the population can claim Italian ancestry. The full-back himself will obtain his Italian passport by January.

He is also a member of the Under-20 team, and will play in its version of the Copa America in Ecuador.

A left-back, Saracchi is known as El Chelo (the cello), and is respected for his leadership, aggressive pressing and marking and speed. He is left-footed, and is also the second-youngest player to make his debut in the Uruguayan league.

His club debut came in August 2015 in Copa America action, and he’s since racked up 30 appearances, one goal and three assists.

Inter successfully beat out the likes of Juventus, Manchester United and Barcelona, thanks to former striker Alvaro Recoba’s intercession. The injury-plagued fan idol convinced the club to go full steam ahead and essentially book Saracchi for January, with the option of either signing him directly or loaning him out to a friendly club.
