Garcia happy with qualification despite Roma equal negative record in the UCL
The Giallorossi’s fans booed poor performance at the end of the game as Roma showed little personality and only two miraculous saves by former Arsenal Wojciech Szczesny in the second half helped the Capitolines to qualify for the last 16.
Talking to journalists after a mediocre 0-0 stalemate against BATE Borisov, Roma manager Rudi Garcia showed his joy for the qualification, rather than disappointment for bad performance.
“I don’t even want to tell how many players I had to do without, not to mansion that Dzeko had cramps at the end of the game”, the Frenchman told Sport Mediaset.
“We attempted to score until the end. Both goalkeepers made great saves, like the one of Barcelona [against Bayer Leverkusen in the other group E game].”
“I have to give credit to my lads as it was nothing easy to qualify tonight.”
“We urged to draw to go through and we got it. It’s not an easy moment for us. Lot of strikers are injured and I am forced to play always the same players.”
“The bad thing is that supporters from Curva Sud are not coming to the stadium since the beginning of the season. They are the most vibrant fans, but we have to deserve the clapping.”
“In Serie A we lost two point against Bologna and just as much against Torino. With four points more [in the Serie A table] we’d be talking about another team.”
“We need to recover from the next game against Napoli, we want to end the month of December in the best way possible.”
