It was do or die for Roma at the Stadio Olimpico. Despite having snatched a disappointing 0-0 against BATE Borisov, Roma managed to qualify to the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League as Bayer  Leverkusen held defending champions Barcelona to a 1-1 draw.

The Lupa needed to recover some pride too after an embarassing showing at the Camp Nou two weeks ago (but at least Dzeko scored!).

They met a determined BATE Borisov side, the same side that humiliated Roma in Belarus with three first-half goals.

A disappointing scoreless stalemate allowed Roma to avoid another embarassment and make it through to the second round, altought fans booed loudly poor performance.
