From Maksimovic to Diawara: Napoli still have €65 million on the bench
Incomes from Higuain’s were invested to sign his successor (Arkadiusz Milik) and to add depth to a squad which couldn’t physically handle competing in three different competitions last season.
Piotr Zielinski and Diawara came on to strengthen the midfield. Emanuele Giaccherini was supposed to be a back up of Jose Maria Callejon, Nikola Maksimovic and Lorenzo Tonelli were supposed to give some rest to senior centre-backs Kalidou Koulibaly and Raul Albiol.
Trouble is, Zielinski is the only new signing that could actually get consistent game time. Diawara is still training as he skipped the whole pre-season training camp with Bologna, Maksimovic, Tonelli and Giaccherini are all eligible to play alongside Marko Rog, but they have all to make their first official appearance with the club.
The partenopei have € 65 million still sitting on the bench, should Maurizio Sarri rotate his man more?
