Ancelotti: 'I'd have returned to Milan if I wasn't so tired'
Speaking to the Italian broadsheet in an extensive interview, Ancelotti spoke about a possible return to Milan, a club which he represented both as a player and a two-time Champions League winning coach.
“Galliani came to survey my thoughts when I knew that my time in Madrid was winding down,” Ancelotti told the Corriere.
“Galliani was as affectionate as can be towards me but I immediately said ‘no thanks’. We didn’t even mention money, however had the offer come at a different time I’d have come back.
“Truth is, I had no energy left after two years at Madrid, coaching there is requires a lot of energy.”
Having spoken about old flame Milan, Ancelotti proceeded to tell his side of the story which saw him unceremoniously shown the door in Spain just a year removed from winning the Champions League with the Merengues.
“They got rid of me because I didn’t win either La Liga or the Champions League. That said, there was a lot of respect between Florentino Perez and myself. I knew I would have to pack it in if I didn’t win, that’s Real.”
Speaking of his future, Ancelotti excluded the possibility of coaching Italy or another national side.
“It’s too early for a national team. I intend to take a one-year sabbatical”.
