FOCUS: De Rossi's future still uncertain

For a long time, Daniele De Rossi’s nickname has been “Capitan Futuro”, as the midfielder has always been considered Francesco Totti’s heir as AS Roma’s captain. On the contrary, in one year, when Totti will end his career as a player, also the 33-year-old could quit the giallorossi.

The contract of the 2006 World Champion will in fact expire on June 30th 2017, and for the moment there have been no negotiation to extend it; moreover, De Rossi will also have to struggle to find a place in Luciano Spalletti’s squad.

Unlike Totti, De Rossi wouldn’t mind to try an experience abroad, but his priority is extend his contract –eventually with a salary reduction, as now he earns €6m per season- and remain in Rome, especially now that his family matters are solved and he is happy again.
