EURO 2016, Italy: How could Conte replace injured Daniele De Rossi?

Italy will face World Champions Germany without three key players: Antonio Candreva, Daniele De Rossi and Thiago Motta. Alessandro Florenzi proved against Spain he can be the right replacement for the Lazio winger, but De Rossi and Thiago Motta are the only two playmakers at Conte’s disposal.

Daniele De Rossi is injured, Thiago Motta will be suspended, so who will play in front of defence against Germany?

As CM.com pundit Federico Zanon points out, Marco Parolo could be moved in that position with Stefano Sturaro or Alessandro Florenzi to play in place of the Lazio midfielder as halfback. If Florenzi will play there, Man Utd’s Matteo Darmian will start on the right.

It is not very likely to see Leonardo Bonucci advanced in midfield, with Ogbonna playing centre-back, whilst Conte might be also considering swapping system.

A 3-4-3 would allow the Italian coach to play Florenzi and De Sciglio on the flanks with Sturaro and Parolo in the middle of the pitch, whilst the trident up front would be composed by Giaccherini, Pellé and one between Eder, Insigne and El Shaarawy.
