Fiorentina to offer €15 million for Empoli stars Saponara and Tonelli
Well, by that we mean that he won't be playing for Empoli next season. Whilst a January departure is very unlikely (he wants to help keep the club in Serie A for another year), a number of clubs - inlcuding Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, Everton and Napoli - are lining up to acquire his services for next season.
According to La Nazione, you can add Fiorentina to that list: the Tuscan newspaper reports that the Viola are set to make a €15 million offer for the former Milan protege.
Saponara has starred at Empoli since returning there last season, scoring 12 goals in 25 appearances.
The 23-year-old hopes to be a part of Antonio Conte's plans for next year's European Championships in France, and has been running his socks off this season to ensure that he has a chance.
Fiorentina haven't just offered €15 million: they're also willing to send Jaime Baez on loan, but are also asking for Luca Tonelli to be included in the deal. The defender formed a solid partnership with Juventus youngster Daniele Rugani last season at the Castellani, and is one of Paulo Sousa's market objectives.
Whatever happens, were Saponara to be sold Milan would be due 30% of his transfer fee. This is set to be quite a sum.
