    Fiorentina CEO: 'Inter preferred to send Jovetic to China than loan him to us'

    It appears that we were right about Fiorentina’s attempts at signing Stevan Jovetic. Though director of sport Pantaleo Corvino would later claim that he wouldn’t buy the Serb ‘to do someone a favour’, the Viola’s CEO, Mario Cognigni, has offered another insight. 

    “We contacted Inter over Jovetic on transfer deadline day,” Cognigni told Il Corriere dello Sport’s website, “I offered them a €5 million loan, and also to pay Stevan’s salary”. 

    The answer? No Dice. 

    “The Chinese ownership said that ‘we’re not selling anyone. If Jovetic won’t play in Italy, he’ll go to China’”.
