FIFA: the 10 candidates shortlisted for coach of the year
FIFA have drawn up their shortlist of the ten candidates for the “Coach of the Year 2016”. The list will be cut to just three by December 2 before the winner is named at the presentation of the Ballon d’Or.
On that list there is Portugal's Euro 2016 winning coach Fernando Santos, miracle man Claudio Ranieri, who led his Leicester City team to an astonishing Premier League title and Zinedine Zidane, who masterminded Real Madrid’s 11th Champions League success.
There’s no room however, for Juventus boss Massimo Allegri, who ensured the Old Lady kept their hands tightly on the Serie A crown with their fifth straight Scudetto nor Unai Emery, who said farewell to Sevilla by delivering their third consecutive Europa League title.
The list in full:
Chris Coleman (Wales)
Didier Deschamps (France)
Pep Guardiola (Bayern & Manchester City)
Jürgen Klopp (Liverpool)
Luis Enrique (Barcelona)
Mauricio Pochettino (Tottenham)
Claudio Ranieri (Leicester)
Fernando Santos (Portugal)
Diego Pablo Simeone (Atletico Madrid)
Zinedine Zidane (Real Madrid)
