Ferrero: 'Napoli just posturing over Soriano'
Yes, the Massimo Ferrero circus is back in town!
Not content with being in the limelight after cleverly signing new coach Vincenzo Montella, Sampdoria's eccentric owner has gone into further detail about Napoli's courtshipt of Roberto Soriano last summer, with the Partenopei reported to have been very interested in the Azzurri midfielder.
"I believe that De Laurentiis is a man of some means, if he wanted someone like Soriano he'd have got him," Ferrero told Radio Kiss Kiss.
"He didn't really want him during the summer, otherwise wouldn't have sent in the paperwork after eleven o'clock.
"It was Neapolitan posturing, it was melodrama".
Ferrero also spoke about a Sampdoria-Napoli deal that did go through, namely Manolo Gabbiadini's transfer to the San Paolo, with whom he played very well in the second half of last season, before seeing a change in manager relegate him to the bench.
"Gabbiadini didn't completely belong to the club, and I wasn't an expert at the time, I was forced to sell him in January. I'm, never selling anyone during the winter transfer window again".
The former Atalanta and Juventus youngster cost Napoli €12.5 million, and has so far scored 16 goals in all competitions, adding 4 assists.
