Felipe Melo: ‘Mancini is like a father to me’

Inter’s mainstay Felipe Melo has released an interview to the Turkish TV channel Trtspo explaining  why he decided to leave Galatasaray, joining the Serie A giants Inter.

I think my time at the club was just over”, Melo told the Turkish press.

“When I have joined Galatasaray I said I wanted to make history at the club winning cups and trophies and that’s what I’ve done. We split up in the best way possible.”

“I have amazing memories of my time in Turkey. I am a supporter of the Brazilian team Flamengo, but the only tattoo that I have represents Galatasaray’s crest. My spell in Turkey was the best of my playing career.”

“I haven’t left Galatasaray to earn more money, that’s simply a lie. I have halved my salary when I joined Inter. I wanted a new challenge after having won a lot of trophies in Turkey. I’d like to be back in Istanbul to thank all the supporters since I had no time to do it last summer.”

“Mancini is more than a manager, he is like a father to me. He is among the best coaches in the world and right now I am feeling much better than what I would have thought when I arrived here last summer.”

“We had a good start to the season, but we have to be strong and consistent from start to finish. I’d like to win at Inter the same trophies that I have snatched during my spell at Galatasaray.”
