Mancini: Inter still a work in progress

A quite relaxed Roberto Mancini spoke to the Italian TV channel Sky Sport following Inter’s 1-1 stalemate against Palermo.

“We played a very good second half and I was pleased with the teams’ performance during the last 15 minutes before half time. Nevertheless we conceded far too much space for Palermo’s counterattacks in the early 30 minutes of the game.”

“We had the chance to double the lead, but Sorrentino has always frustrated out attempts.”

“I think we played a positive game also after that Murillo was sent off. The red card was unfair as that wasn’t even a foul to me. I am happy because we showed a good personality even if we need to improve as in this moment we are not able to dominate a whole game.

The former Manchester City boss was also asked about the performances of Jonathan Biabiany, Mauro Icardi and Goffrey Kondogbia.

“As a striker, Icardi suffers when he doesn’t score. This is not a lucky period for him, but he is helping us anyway. Ljajic played well too, I can rely on five offensive players up front and it can happen that Mauro [Icardi] won’t start every game.”

“I am delighted with Biabiany’s comeback. He was lucky enough to continue his career and I’ll give him more playing time as soon as he’ll be totally recovered.”

“I think Kondogbia played a good game, I had to substituted him because he has been booked. I wanted to do the same with Murillo, but I was not on time.”
