EXCLUSIVE Romano: Napoli rival Juve in chase for Saponara
That's right, next summer: both Empoli and the former Milan prodigy are in complete agreement regarding his stay at the Stadio Castellani. Saponara wants to remain a starter, and hopes to catch the plane for France.
Juventus made a number of offers for the former Milan youth's services last summer, only to be rebuffed each time. Trouble is, trying to beat the competition before the summer window will be difficult, as Empoli (who have to give Milan 40% of the proceeds of the sale to Milan) would want at least €20 million for their troubles.
Though the Old Lady is still talking to Saponara's agents - and Paratici will always keep a keen eye on the trequartista - other clubs are just as interested. There is talk that both Everton and a number of Bundesliga clubs could be interested, as well as Ricky's former coach at Empoli, Maurizio Sarri.
Though he's since abandoned the No.10 position at the San Paolo, Sarri will do anything to bring in Saponara, and is willing to either adapt the youngster to his formation, or the opposite.
Either way, it'll be a fascinating summer.
