EXCLUSIVE Romano: Napoli make new contact with Icardi

The future of many Serie A striker is object of speculation this summer: from Carlos Bacca to Gonzalo Higuai, from Mauro Icardi to Mario Gomez, not to mention Alvaro Morata who has left Juventus to return to Real Madrid.

With Higuain’s agent who has entered transfer talks with Juventus, Napoli are looking for a potential replacement of the Argentinean striker, scorer of 36 goals in 35 games last term. The partenopei believe that it is another Argentinean who could be perfect to fill the boots of the Pipita: his name is Mauro Icardi.
CM.com transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano reports that Wanda Nara has made a new contact with partenopei recently, leaving Inter and Piero Ausilio totally disappointed.

Icardi has not rejected the possibility to join Napoli. The Serie A club had already tried to sign him in 2013, before Inter completed the striker’s signing from Sampdoria. Aurelio De Laurentiis want to make a new attempt now.

The 23-year-old striker has requested a contract of at least € 7 million a year. Icardi has also sold half of his economic rights to Inter and he’d like not to do the same with Napoli, that’s why the club’s DS Giuntoli has scheduled a new meeting with Wanda Nara in the next few days.

Inter, however, are not open to sell Icardi to one of their direct rivals for the Serie A title. Inter would even say no to offers around € 50 million. The path is very complicated, but Napoli want Icardi to be their next striker if Higuain departs.
