EXCLUSIVE: Milan ponder Balotelli-Lopez deal with Liverpool
Calciomercato.com can exclusively reveal that the former Real Madrid goalkeeper is looking around for other options, and the Premier League could well be his destination.
With Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp not trusting Simon Mignolet between the sticks and the club having fond memories of another Spanish goalkeeper, Pepe Reina, the move could make sense for both sides.
Milan need to get rid of that €2.5 million a year salary, and could do with signing Mario Balotelli to a long term deal. His current loan doesn’t allow Milan to buy him at its expiry- but Liverpool could still choose to do so. The clause was missing because Milan would have otherwise had to pick up his entire salary.
Lopez’s relationship with the club is at an all-time low: now out with a tendinopathy, the former Real Madrid star was unhappy when Sinisa Mihajlovic chose to have youngster Gigi Donnarumma warm up for 80 minutes of Milan’s 1-0 loss to Genoa.
The two have since had heated discussions both during games (Napoli, Torino) and at Milanello, leading to the Serbian starting Donnarumma against Sassuolo, Chievo and Lazio. Lopez has since been injured.
