EXCLUSIVE Maggio's agent talks to CM: "He never gives up"

Un digiuno lungo quasi tre anni. Riecco Christian Maggio, versione goleador.

CM.com: Has Maggio conquered Naples again after scoring in the Europa League?

Massimo Briaschi: The goal Christian scores against Midtjylland is a reward for the professionalism this kid has shown, he's never given up, not even in tough moments. He's always ready when he's called upon, he's reliable and mature.

Can he be a presence off the pitch, as well as on it?

"He's been a part of the team for years, but the leaders are elected by the collective, they don't take power. He can make his voice heard, and be respected; he's serious, which is why his team-mates appreciate him. He knows the place very well and can be a guide for those who have just arrived".

Is one of his strong points the ability to reinvent himself?

That's true, only great players are capable of that. First with Benitez, then with Sarri, he was asked to play in ways that were contrary to his skills, yet he's managed to carve out a role for himself and become indispensable. Even Sarri recognises this. An initial struggle was to be expected, but Christian is back in the driver's seat.

How is he dealing with being behind Elseid Hysaj?

It's tough to sit on the bench after being a started for seven years. He's angry just enough to be effective, something he needs to earn back his place, something he will gun for week by week.

Then again Christian has always put his personal interestes to one side, he's very happy with the team's results, everything else matters little.

Does he get along with Sarri?

Very well, there's a respect that goes beyond the coach's decisions. A professional, positive relationship.

Will his future be with Napoli?
It's early to say, there's time to evaluate the situation
