EXCLUSIVE: Araujo, the new "Chino" for Inter
As we reported on calciomercato.com, the Argentine striker almost arrived at Palermo last summer, but now Inter have expressed an interest in the player they have been monitoring since he broke onto the scene at Boca Juniors. At the moment, no formal offer has been made, but his profile seems right for the nerazzurri as they look to once again strengthen their attack.
Born in 1992, Araujo came through the youth academy at Boca just like his idol Kun Aguero. He has also played for Tigres and more recently, the Barcelona B side, where he netted seven times in 34 appearances. In 2013, the Catalan giants decided not to take up their option to buy him for €15 million, so he headed off to the Canary Islands to play for Las Palmas. In 2014 he rifled in 23 goals whilst this season, he has scored five times in 28 games.
Last summer, his friend Mauro Icardi encouraged him to head to Sicily with a message that read “Chino (his nickname), come to Italy: go to Palermo!!!”Who knows if he will offer the same advice this time around?
