EXCLUSIVE Agresti: 'Spalletti has taken a wrecking ball to Roma'
Luciano Spalletti has needed just fifteen days to break Roma.
Instead of gradually establishing himself, the former Zenit manager has taken the Blackadder approach, and tried to trim his fingernails with a scythe. Surprise surprise, his foot came off, too.
What do I mean? Well, since returning for his second stint as la Lupa's manager, Spalletti has blamed almost everyone.
Only Roma’s rivals have remained unharmed: relegation-strugglers Verona obtaining a rare point at the Olimpico, Juventus grabbing all three, making the most of Roma's bizzarre attitude.
Spalletti took a wrecking ball to one of his own players, Alessandro Florenzi, for having the temerity to complain to the referee. A good way of kicking someone who was already down, Florenzi having limped off injured.
Not content with picking on Florenzi, Serie A's newest jezzie has since blamed some of his players, (Gervinho and Totti) former manager Zdenek Zeman, and even Ervin Zukanovic, his newest signing!
Sod's law would, of course, immediately take out Vassilios Torosidis and Lucas Digne, forcing Spalletti to rely on Zukanovic. But was it really bad luck, or was it the rumoured high-intensity training the new coach has imposed?
As if things weren't bad enough off the pitch, Roma will now play against Frosinone, knowing they can’t afford another false step: will Spalletti be able to defeat the second-to-last team in the table, after failing to do so last time?
