England, FA to offer Gerrard-Lampard coaching roles

According to The Sun, the Football Association are considering fast-tracking Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard into coaching roles with the England national football team.

The journal states that representatives from the FA have already been in contact with both men and have offered them the chance to begin studying for their relevant coaching qualifications during the MLS close season this winter. This is a change of protocol from football’s governing body who have never offered any former players a quick way into the coaching set-up in the national team.

With both players keen to take up the offer, it’s believed they could be part of the England set-up within two years. Normally it would take someone four-years to attain the relevant qualifications to coach in professional football.

The two men have 220 England caps between them and the FA believe that there international experience could be vital as the Three Lions look to rebuild after a disastrous summer in France and the recent controversial departure of Sam Allardyce.
