Empoli refuse to rule out Federico Barba exit

With 31 points in 21 games, Empoli can be easily considered as one of the most surprising sides this season alongside Sassuolo. Azzurri and Neroverdi are also the two teams who have been deploying the most Italian players thus far.

One of them, Federico Barba, has been strongly linked with Napoli move and talking to media ahead of the Milan clash, Empoli sporting director Marcello Carli refused to rule out Barba January sale.

“We are not having lot of defenders in our squad right now and we can’t sell our most important men”, Carli told Mediaset Premium.

“Barba is among them, but we’re ready to listen to important offers for him.”

Empoli have reportedly slapped a € 10 million price tag on the 22-year-old full-back, while Napoli’s offer is believed to be in the region of € 7 million.

Carli, by the way, has denied that he has ever received any offer from the Partenopei.
Lorenzo Tonelli, the other central defender who has been chased by some Serie A top clubs, on the other hand, is not for sale.

“We’ve received some offers for him but we don’t want to sell him now. So there will be no negotiations for him.”
