Di Natale: 'Retirement talk is BS!'. Christmas retirement rumoured
Di Natale has often cut a frustrated figure, either on the pitch or on the sidelines, only scoring once in Serie A play this season.
“It’s saddening to read what has written in the past few days. My coach and team-mates appreciate me, even if I don’t play.
“Everything I’ve read is Bulls**t!”
The 38-year-old is coming off a fantastic season, in which his 14 goals helped the Friulan side overcome former manager Andrea Stramaccioni’s oft-questioned tactical approach.
“We’re all on good terms here at Udinese. What matters is getting results. What I’m alleged to have said about Aguirre is nonsense, I never said that I wouldn’t be his substitute. He’s young and needs to play.
The Gazzetta dello Sport has also reignited speculation that Di Natale will leave the club anyway, and has even asked to rescind his contract before Christmas.
The pink paper also alleges that the Udinese legend has a front-office role waiting for him. He is set to leave before December 20th.
The striker has, however, denied everything.
“I love Udinese more than many others. I’m here to say that I have no problems with the coach.
“The president knows when I will stop playing for the club, until then I will only be focussed on playing.”
