De Boer: 'Inter not physically ready yet', 'the players believe in what we're doing'
"Physically we’re not ready to put what we have in mind into practice," he told the Algemeen Dagblad, "that’s why I chose a better-known system [the 3-5-2], which could give us more certainty”.
De Boer went on to expound on the physical aspect:
“My best players haven’t even played a friendly and now they’ve got to return to form quickly, with the league having already started. It’s certainly not a normal situation, but it’s not happening only to us, but to all the teams who have players returning from the Euros or the Copa America”.
That said, the Dutchman seems to have a lot of faith in his players, and Ivan Perisic
“What have I learned from the squad in these first two weeks? That the boys compltely believe in everything that we’re doing. Before they were many individual talents, now they’ll begin to play as a team”.
“Perisic is an exceptional player, but he wasn’t in top shape physically. I decided to be conservative and not rely on him for that game”.
