Chiellini: 'Pjanic adds more to Juve than Pogba', 'Inter can compete for Scudetto'
"Juventus are a ‘work in progress’," Chiellini told Italy's three big sports papers, "we know what we need to work on down to the smallest details. We’ve trained well, and prioritised our physical condition and retaining the ball”.
The Tuscan defender spoke of Juve's impressive summer transfer campaign:
“Compared to last summer we’ve changed fewer things and picked up mature, high-calibre players, and the added experience afforded us by last year’s false start. We were convinced we were giving it our all, but it wasn’t so”.
Chiellini also claims that the Bianconeri may have taken a step forward by replacing Paul Pogba with Miralem Pjanic.
“We’ve improved quality-wise with Pjanic’s arrival: he can do a lot for us both in set pieces and open play, he scores and provides assists. We’ve improved up front with Higuain’s arrival, and the same has happened elsewhere on the pitch. Cuadrado and Morata knew that they were unlikely to stay.
The Azzurri star also claims that Inter have everything it takes to compete for the Scudetto.
"Inter have a squad of incredible quality at every level, they can’t not aim to compete for the Champions League or the Scudetto. I don’t see a gap with the other teams, but it will depend from us. Despite losing Higuain, Napoli have a solid group and a coach with a well-defined philosophy. Roma have turned a corner since Spalletti’s arrival".
