Chelsea, Napoli target Muriel 'isn't going anywhere'

It looks like Chelsea target Luis Muriel isn’t going anywhere during the next transfer window.

“I’m staying here in January,” he told Il Secolo XIX, “I have never felt as good as I have this year, and I want to keep improving. Sampdoria’s fans are among the best in the world”.

Muriel, 25, has played so well this season that he has attracted the interest of Chelsea, through former Serie A gaffer Antonio Conte. The Colombian international has scored six goals, adding one Serie A assist. In total, he’s scored eight goals in all competitions, and has five total assists.

Samp president Massimo Ferrero was rather amusing about his protege’s progress, telling the media to “shove it up their own a**e!” for being critical of the decision to sign him.

The Pensioners aren’t the only club interested, with Valencia and Napoli - both sides light on attackers - also looking to sign him.

Muriel was signed from Udinese for €10.5 million in the summer of 2015.
