Chelsea, Milan are long-term admirers of Italy international Parolo

Today’s Corriere dello Sport has unleashed quite the bombshell: they confirm that Milan and Chelsea have both chased Lazio and Italy star Marco Parolo.

Parolo was bought from Lazio for a measly 5 million, and has scored 13 Serie A goals since joining them in 2014.

A converted attacking midfielder, Parolo can play deeper, and is known for making penetrating runs and scoring plenty of goals.

Having emerged in the 2013/2014 season with Parma, he has gone on to earn a call-up to Italy’s Euro 2016 squad.

The 31-year-old could be the kind of direct technical midfielder which Oscar has failed to be this season for the Pensioners.

Milan would also be delighted to nab someone like Parolo, with Riccardo Montolivo going down with injury and young Manuel Locatelli needing time (and trial and error) to develop.

Could he be a target for either in the January transfer window? It seems likely at this stage.
