The Champions League will be revamped from 2018 with four teams guaranteed to qualify for the group stages of the competition from the four main European leagues. The Premier League, Primera Liga, Bundesliga and Serie A will all benefit from the changes being introduced with each country receiving four places for the competition proper.
 

There will also be a new ranking system introduced for clubs which will depend on results obtained from 1956 (the first season of the European Cup) to 1993 (when the Champions League was introduced), from 1993-2008 and from 2008-2018. These rankings will determine which pot teams are entered into at the draw for the group phase. Uefa has also stated that the Europa League winners will also automatically qualify for the Champions’ League group stage.
