Casillas reveals why he left Real Madrid
The product of Real Madrid academy spent 15 years with the LaLiga giants senior team winning 19 trophies with the club, including three Champions Leagues.
“The first time I thought about leaving Real Madrid was after Lisbon’s Champions League final, there was a strange atmosphere at the club at the time. I realized my time at Real Madrid was ending. Between January and February 2015 the atmosphere was still not good and I had to leave, Porto was a good choice.”
“I haven’t left Spain national team yet. Lopetegui has told me that he wants to gamble on De Gea, but why shouldn’t I be able to play the 2018 World Cup? I played all the EURO 2016 qualifiers, but I did not play the rest of the tournament.”
“Lopetegui is not losing his sleep over Spain’s goalkeerper.”
