Bolingbroke: 'Suning on board with my plan, Inter profitable in three years'

With Inter’s recent acquisition by the Suning group and Coach Frank De Boer’s struggles, CEO Michael Bolingbroke’s role has come under fire, the Englishman having joined the Nerazzurri under Erick Thohir’s auspices.

His latest interview, however, says the exact opposite, the former PWC/Manchester United director claiming that Suning are completely on board with his plans to make the club turn a profit.

“They told me: ‘Inter definitely need to earn Champions League qualification on a constant basis, we want to make profits, “Bolingbroke told Bloomberg.
“[They added]: ‘Your plan ensure that the club will become profitable within three years of the buyout? Excellent, let’s proceed!’”.

“With their contacts and their access to Chinese territory, we have an opportunity we simply didn’t dispose of before they arrived” Inter’s CEO added.

Inter are set to open a new shop and commercial wing in Nanjing (Nanking), which will be their base of operations as they look for new deals in China.

Bolingbroke did, however, claim that Financial Fair Play will be a factor: “Were Suning to become Inter’s main sponsor for 100 million, I think UEFA would turn around and say ‘Really?’”.

“Nothing forbids Suning from looking for new sponsors, however”.
