Barcelona Vice-President; "Messi renewal? We are optimistic"
Two more goals from Argentine superstar Lionel Messi helped Barcelona to a 3-0 win at Osasuna yesterday but all the talk before and after the game centred on the 29-year-old’s contract renewal at the Camp Nou.
Speaking after yesterday’s victory, club Vice-President Jordi Mestre was keen to explain that things were progressing by stating that; “The negotiations are moving forward with both sides committed to finding a solution. These will continue in silence and with great optimism”.
Reports in certain circles have suggested that Messi will leave the Catalan giants after 15 years with both Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain prepared to shatter the world record transfer fee to bring the world’s greatest player to their respective clubs. Time and time again, the Argentine international has defied critics who believe that his powers are on the wane by putting in outstanding displays to drag his team forward. Yesterday’s hard-fought win in Pamplona was just another example of his magical powers.
