Barcelona to play a friendly against Chapecoense
After the tragic events of last week, Barcelona have invited Brazilian side Chapecoense to the Camp Nou to play a friendly next August to pay tribute to the victims who perished in the recent plane crash in Colombia. In a statement, the Catalan giants explained that;
"FC Barcelona want to pay homage to the 71 people that died in the accident and to their families so it is working on making the 2017 edition of the Joan Gamper Trophy a homage on behalf of the world of football to all of them,"
The Gamper Trophy is the traditional curtain raiser to the new season with opponents receiving a special invite from the blaugrana.
After losing 19 players in the disaster last week that claimed 71 lives, Chapecoense have received help from clubs all over the world as they try to get back on their feet. Barcelona are the latest club to offer their support.
