Napoli are still looking for a striker.
With Arkadiusz Milik going down to an ACL tear and Manolo Gabbiadini struggling to impress, it appears that Nikola Kalinic is still on the Partenopei’s radar… as is Carlos Bacca, who was linked to the San Paolo side this summer.
Bacca has had a red-hot start to the campaign, while Kalinic had a heck of a game against Cagliari… all whilst Manolo Gabbiadini has either been benched behind Milik, or was being sent off against Crotone.
With Gabbiadini a potential departee himself, president Aurelio De Laurentiis is also considering grabbing former Juventus player Simone Zaza, someone he had considered this summer.
By asking for Zaza, he could prevent Juventus from earning the full value of his payback clause, and ask the Hammers for a discount, too.
Thing is, it is far from certain where Zaza is interested in playing in Italy again, or indeed for Napoli, who have hardly made the strongest start to the current campaign.
The hope, either way, is that Milik can return as soon as possible, though his ACL tear won’t exactly heal over the coming weeks.
