Atalanta Coach Gasperini comes out in De Boer's defence
The Atalanta gaffer knows a thing or two about how things operate at the San Siro, having been brought in a few seasons ago, then unceremoniously dumped five games into the 2011-2012 season.
“Inter have struggeld in the last few years,” he told RAI, “despite numerous investments, the club is struggling to find success.
“If the club believes in De Boer, it needs to realistically work out what could change the sucrrent situation.
“It is fundamental that the team does its part. Anyone in his position needs more time.
This is where the former Genoa man made a shocking admission, namely that he was close to being fired by Atalanta mere weeks ago, before his team went on a four-game unbeaten run.
“I myself was very close to seeing my experience here in Bergamo end prematurely, the environment, the atmosphere wasn’t good, and nothing is good when results aren’t forthcoming.
“Subsequently, the team’s football improve, along with its confidence, which was accompanied by results and changes for the better. I too needed time to find my beatings, and the team reacted well to me”.
